Hill, Brian letters to Clifford Kitchins, 1957 - 1962
Scope and Contents
Three letters from Brian Hill to Clifford Kitchins:
September 2, 1957: Hill sends a forthcoming publication [perhaps his translation of Paul Verlaine's "The Sky Above the Roof," published that year], writing "I hope you like this & don't find too much to criticize (or too many printing errors!"). Publication date is Sept. 20th, but I felt you should have one of the first copies since you were, as it were, in at the conception."
October 19, 1962: Hill sends a copy of his translation of Heredia's "The Trophies," noting the publication date of 29th October. "I hope you will like it; in any event I await your criticism with interest as you are sure to pin-point the weaknesses unerringly." Hill adds a paragraph about a recent trip to Rome.
October 30, 1962: Hill responds to a letter from Kitchins, thanking him for his "encouraging & complimentary" letter, responding to a critique of a translation, and noting a misprint.
