Scope and Contents
Four pieces of correspondence as follows:
- Manuscript copy in Mill's handwriting of a letter dated November 26, 1858 from George Grote to John Stuart Mill offering condolences on the death of Mill's wife.
- Letter from John Stuart Mill to George Grote, dated November 28, 1858, on mourning stationery, replying to Grote's letter.
- Letter from John Stuart Mill to Thornton Hunt, dated April 24, 1861. Mill reports that he does not know the identity of the executors of Charles Lamb.
- Letter from John Stuart Mill to Rev. John Tulloch, Principal of the University of St Andrews, dated January 15, 1868. Mill notes the appointment of Andrew Findlater of Edinburgh as Assessor of the university.
