This collection includes theatrical designs, ephemera, manuscripts, and other materials related to the Russian avant-garde theatre movement.

The first series consists of manuscripts, photographs, and printed ephemera. The most substantial sub-series includes correspondence and other material related to the publication of the book My Life in Russian Theatre (Little, Brown and and Co., 1937) by Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko (1858 - 1943), who was known for being an innovative theatre director, writer, teacher, playwright, and producer. Nemirovich-Danchenko co-founded the Moscow Art Theatre with Konstantin Stanislavsky and helped usher in the new genre of naturalism in theatrical performance and writing.

Other items include theatre programs, broadsides and posters, letters, photographs. Each item is listed invidually in the guide.
