Scope and Contents

Inscription on inside of front cover indicates that the scrapbook was created by Frances McCullough. Includes her notes regarding who she attended the plays with and her thoughts on the performance.

Theatres are mainly Philadelphia but some other cities are represented. Theatres include The Palace Theatre, The Ashland Opera House (Ashland, PA), The Empire Theatre, The Chestnut Street Theatre, Gilmore's Auditorium, The Broad Street Theatre, The Walnut Street Theatre, American Academy of Music, The Casino (NYC), The Lyric Theatre (London), Alhambra Theatre (London), The Royal Strand Theatre (London), The Duke of York's Theatre (London), St. James's Theatre (London), Daly's Theatre (London), Cafe Restaurant de la Place Blanche (Paris), Concert des Ambassadeurs (Paris), The Gaiety Theatre (London). Contains handwritten index.

Of note: Lovely decorative programs for summer 1896 London productions including The Sign of the Cross at the Lyric Theatre, a vaudeville show at the Royal Strand Theatre, and The Prisoner of Zenda at St. James Theatre.

Also contains news clippings related to European theatre at back of scrapbook including an article about the death of actress Sadie MacDonald (1896).

Inscription on second page reads "'All the worlds a stage.' Programmes of 1894-95-Commencing - August 26th, 1894, Ending - May 28th, 1895."
