Scope and Contents

Mounted theatre-related clippings, most undated. Most of the clippings are simply images rather than full articles, sources are most often not indicated. Death notices account for most recent dates.

Programs: Productions of "Uncle Joe; Or, Fritz in a Mad House,""Cleopatra,""The Old Homestead,""Captain Therese," all at Albaugh's Grand Opera House, 1891; productions of "The Ugly Duckling""Later On,""A Scrap of Paper,""The Burgler,""The Private Secretary,""Niobe," all at the New National Theatre, 1891; hand-typed cast list for "Prince and the Pauper" at the New National Theatre, 1891; variety show at the New National Theatre, 1891; "The Jolly Students" together with "Cavalleria Rusticana" at the Academy of Music, 1891; "The Better Part" followed by "Jane" at the Academy of Music, 1891; "Lord Chumley" at the New National Theatre, 1892; "A Night's Frolic" at Albaugh's Grand Opera House, 1892.

Of note: Program for Herrmann aided by Mme Herrmann, in his Marvelous Entertainment of Magic, Mirth, and Mystery at the New National Theatre, 1891.

Of note: Typed letter to Mrs. Ada C. Adams, dated September 16, 1891: begins "My Dear Sister: I have the honor to inclose [sic] herewith, with my compliments, four tickets of admission to the Hermann [sic] matinee on Saturday next." [signature has been cut off].

News article about death of Violet Vanbrugh (1942); small death notices for Ida Vernon (1923), Joseph P. Hart (Borrouw)(1921), Rosina Vokes (1894), Seymour Hicks (1949), Johnstone Bennett (1906).

Performers featured include Joseph Kline Emmet, Leslie Carter, Rosina Vokes, Rose Coghlan, Sara Bernhardt, Madge Kendal, William Hunter (W.H.) Kendal, Adelaide Herrmann, Alexander Hermann, Agnes Huntington Opera Company, Rudolph Aronson's Opera Company, Abbott and Teal's Comedy Company, Edward Hugh Sothern.
