"By courtesy of the Governors of the old Vic to whom the thanks of the Society for Theatre Research and the William Poel Centenary Committee are most gratefully accorded A Special Performance in commemoration of the work of William Poel (1852-1934), presented under the auspices of The Society for Theatre Research by distinguished members of the theatrical profession under the direction of Robert Atkins, C.B.E., Friday, 11th July, 1952, at 2:30 p.m."

Programme includes: Dame Edith Evans speaking about William Poel; Sir Lewis Casson speaking on Poel as a producer; passage from the play Everyman to be read by Robert Atkins, Lewis Casson, Russell Thorndike, Margaret Halstan; "The Raigne of King Edward the Third" from the play The King and the Countess starring Joseph O'Conor, Adele Dixon, Harold Scott, David Horne, John Glendenning, Michael Martin, Denis Martin, Graham Gauld, Roy Hawksworth, produced by Ernest Milton; portion of the play Fratricide Punished starring Esme Percy, Margaret Scudamore, David Powell, Judith Stott, Mischa de la Motte, Wilfred Fletcher, Charles Gray, Byron Pennington, Michel Fago, Brian Rawlinson, produced byt Esme Percy; portion of the play Troilus and Cressida staring Basil Hoskins, Barbara Jefford, Felix Felton, Robert Speaight, Jonathan Field, Victor Lucas, Alan Edmiston, produced by Robert Speaight; Hermione Gingold expressing appreciation to William Poel; and Helen Haye reading the Prayer for the Queen from Ralph Roister Doister.
