Scope and Contents

Hippodrome Souvenir Book (1922-23), Dillingham, Charles [Manager]. The "super-spectacle" for this season was "Better Times, conceived and stage by R.H. Burniside, music by Raymond Hubbell. The production opened September 2nd, 1922 and ran for 405 performances. Performers included Archie Leach (who would later change his name to Cary Grant). Other acts included Elna Hansen, Esther Greenacre, Serita Lorraine, Ebba Sparre, "The Pogo Girls,""The Jumping Rope Girls," Patrick and Francisco's "Barnyard Ballet," Robert McClellan, Sylvia Stone, "The Marvelous Crow 'Jacko' and his pals The Three Bobs," Fred McPherson, Nanette Flack, Tommy Colton, Orlando and his Wonderful Horses, Power's Dancing Elephants, Claudius Dane and Lillian Scarlet.

The oversized 36 page program measures 8 1/2" X 11" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, episodes and musical numbers, individual photos of many of the performers, a history of the Hippodrome and wonderful vintage advertising.

Stamp on back cover indicates that this was part of the SUNY Binghamton Theater Collection.
