Scope and Contents
Contents:
- Louis Livernoche to John B. Livernoche, November 27 [??]. Sent from Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Letter from one of John's brothers, in French. No year given.
- Three empty envelopes addressed to Mrs John Livernoche. The first is addressed to her at North Bennington, VT, so must be fairly early; the postmark is unclear. The other two are postmarked from Susquehanna, PA, with dates August 12 and November 24; these are certainly from Jen Shrimpton.
- Card from Charles Wentzler to Laura Livernoche, in which the sender "presents Christmas Greetings and demands recognition for an unusually retentive memory in keeping promises." With envelope.
- Joseph [?] to "Cher Ami," August 30, 1868. Sent from Chicago. In French, but aside from a reference to Bennington, no connection to the Livernoches is evident.
The following items seem to have no connection to the rest of the collection:
- "Christmas Appeal for Poor Children," December 1887. Sent from New York, NY, and addressed to E.A. Booth, Esq. of Candor, NY. Contains return envelope addressed to Charles L. Brace of the Children's Aid Society in New York, and two appeal handbills, one illustrated with a steel engraving of a poor child.
- Rosa Lovell, "Putting the Children to Bed." Two-page manuscript story, seemingly not connected to this collection. "Please preserve" is written at the top left corner, and "good" is written in blue pencil at the top center of the first page.
- A.L. Westcott to L.E. Paine, June 10, 1931. Sent from Oneonta, NY. References books seemingly being sold for Paine on consignment. Envelope present.
- Thoms & Eron to L.E. Payne [sic], June 15, 1931. Sent from New York, NY. Declines offer of books for purchase.
