Correspondence, 1868 - 1919 and undated
Scope and Contents
The correspondence included in this collection is an eclectic mix of personal, business, and political correspondence, most addressed to Maurice Leyden, with a few pieces addressed to his wife Margaret and daugther Blanche. At the end of the series are several unmatched envelopes and a piece of blank stationery with Maurice Leyden's heading at the top. Of particular note is a letter of August 9, 1888 letter from Bertha Upton to a Mr. Childs, in which the writer reports that Maurice Leyden had removed her from her post in the county clerk's office and her desire to see him unseated in the upcoming election.
