Written from Vineland, Cumberland County, New Jersey. Opens "My Dear Friend Grace." Notes that she hadn't written to him between July 1 and August 20 and grants his pardon for the lapse. Notes that a blot of ink had fallen right where he had written the word "blots." Reports that he is not going back to Carversville for school, and that he had seen Celia briefly in the canning factory but not to speak to. Describes a party he had attended.
