Clark Lockwood to Mother, May 25, 1864
Scope and Contents
Written from Martinsburg, West Virginia. Writes to clear up a mistake in a previous letter, in which he had reported the death of a comrade, Frank Mathews. He clarified that other reports confirmed that Frank had been wounded in the thigh and was unable to ride, but that he was believed to have been taken prisoner and not killed. Has not received any mail and requests again to hear about his father's health.
Envelope postmarked at Martinsburg, West Virginia, May 26, 1864. Addressed to "Mrs. Jane Lockwood, Watkins, Schuyler Co., N.Y."
