Clark Lockwood to Mother, October 27, 1864

Scope and Contents

Written from Charleston, West Virginia. Hopes that his mother will receive the "town bounty" and suggests she have Sol Wood collect it for her. Reports that they received four months' pay the previous day and that he will not send any since he expects to be able to come home in November. Notes some recent fighting near his position, in which a "celebrated Guerilla and Bush Whacker" was killed and his brother taken prisoner.
