Biographical Note

Katie Ellis was Director of Media Relations in 1994-2004 and Senior Director of Communications and Marketing in 2004-2023. In her 2023 LinkedIn profile, Ellis listed her work in the latter position:

"- Oversaw internal communications for the campus, including online news (BingUNews); daily electronic distributions to faculty, staff and students; and communications during critical incidents. "- Wrote for BingUNews, the web, the Binghamton University Foundation, the president's and provost's offices including news stories, profiles, newsletters, biographical summaries and messaging for major initiatives. "- Coordinated internal communications during critical incidents including writing the messages and working with the senior director for media relations and public relations to push the messages beyond the campus appropriately. "- Served as the communications manager for the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences from its establishment in 2017 through June 2023, handling all communications from the school from writing/editing seven digital newsletters each year and an annual magazine (Remedies) to writing recruitment letters for PharmD, master's and doctoral student prospects to writing for and updating the school's website to preparing remarks for the dean for Commencement and other events."
