Scope and Contents

A daybook formerly used at a grocery store, the contents of which are almost completely obscured by various newspaper clippings, mainly from the Binghamton Press, which Fannie Fern Eaton Bentley collected and pasted into the book. The majority of the clippings date from the early twentieth century. The clippings are general interest features and society column clippings.

Biographical Note

Fannie Fern Eaton (December 13, 1877 - April 15, 1960) was a Binghamton resident and Endicott Johnson employee. She married DeForest Chauncey Bentley (1872 - 1950), with whom she had three daughters and one son: Winifred (wife of Willis Pert Nimmonsburg), Georgia (wife of Walter Williams Clyde), Eva (wife of Martin York), and Archie W. Bentley.

Fannie spent many of her years in Binghamton working for the Endicott Johnson Corporation, and was a prominent member of Boulevard United Methodist Church of Binghamton. She died on April 15, 1960, and is buried in Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, New York.
