Link-Hughes accession, 1916 - 2000, bulk: 1934 - 1996
Scope and Contents
This accession covers the history, administration, public relations, and product design of Link Aviation, General Precision Equipment Corporation's Link Division, and the Singer-Link company. Categories of business documents include records of business transactions, minutes of meetings, contracts, certificates of incorporation, company photographs, correspondence (1943-1946) relating to the Canadian plant, and newspaper clippings. Documents and newspaper clippings pertaining to the Link family are also included.
A flood in the Link Aviation, Inc. offices destroyed most of the early files, so there are few papers prior to 1939, and little information on the development of the early trainers.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Link-Hughes accession was acquired in 1996 after Hughes Training, Inc., decided to microfilm its historical records and retain only the microfilm copy. The originals of the microfilmed documents relevant to Binghamton’s Link collections were offered to Binghamton University Libraries. The archive received 9 boxes of materials, 4 microfilm reels, and one disk with the index.
Hughes Training, Inc., also provided copies of the microfilm and one diskette of all the documents that it donated to the Smithsonian Institution. The substantial photographic collection consisting of early Link trainers, manufacturing plants, and employees was not microfilmed by Hughes Training, Inc.
