Scope and Contents

This small accession documents the professional and personal life of George T. Link, Edwin Link's brother. George was deeply involved in his brother's aviation companies. Materials include photos and newsclippings about the Link family, promotional materials related to several link companies, files related to the aqcuisition of Link Aviation Devices by General Precision Inc., and biographical materials. Virginia Murray, George T. Link's daughter, wrote notes throughout the accession (especially on photos) explaining events and individuals included.

Biographical / Historical

George Theron Link (1897 - 1977) was the elder brother of Edwin A. Link Jr. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1918, served in WWI, and then in the controller's department of Traveler's Insurance Company. In 1922, he assumed the management of his father's Link Piano Company. With brother Edwin, George founded Link Aviation Corp. in 1935. He rose to the rank of Senior Vice President of the Link Group of General Precision, Inc., and retired as Director of Singer General Precision in 1969.

George was also involved with Marine Midland Bank of Binghamton, the Salvation Army, Boys Club of America, and Trinity Episcopal Church Binghamton.
