The External Affairs at Binghamton University records contains materials relating to the public relations, alunmi relations, and fundraising of the University. Subject files include information about donors, anniversaries and special events, important news stories, and research about issues facing universities generally. Because the office managed PR about the University, subject files contain both positive news stories and information about controversies on campus. Working files of the department include correspondence, reports, presentations to SUNY and Binghamton stakeholders, travel plans, legal agreements, and policies.

Financial records are largly absent from the collection and are likely held in the records of the Foundation.
