Documents and letters pertaining to a family of prominent landowners in Broome County and northern Pennsylvania during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

This folder contains a five-page typed biographical sketch of Rose; a June 27, 1912 letter from H. Clench to Charles F. Wright as chairman of the Pennsylvania Society; an October 17, 1912 letter from Wright to Hon. H.J. Rose; and two copies on pink paper of an October 17, 1912 letter from Wright to Clench. All concern the biography of Robert H. Rose (1776 - 1842).

Three contracts for provision of wood to the railroad: April 5, 1854 with M.L. Cole; June 10, 1854 with Enos Newcomb; and August 30, 1854 with William L. Ford and George T. Belding.

Typescript copies of an obituary of Hon. John Grieg and resolutions passed in Grieg's memory by the Bar of the Seventh Judicial District (Canandaigua) and the Ontario Female Seminary (Canandaigua). The typed copies were made after 1890, using two different letterhead sheets (Silver Lake Resort for three pages, Rose Brothers cattle for another).

Income tax returns for R.B. Little of Montrose (1863); Henry Drinker of Montrose (1864); L.P. Little of Scranton (1864); James S. Scranton of Scranton (1864); Joseph A. Scranton of Scranton (1864); Sarah Carmalt of Friendsville (1866). There is also an undated sheet for Joseph H. Scranton noting special income of $1,300.

Brief note to an unnamed "My dear Captain" sending two volumes about Pennsylvania's role in the Battle of Gettysburg as a loan.
