This series contains the diaries of Celia Smith Kelm written between 1920 and 1966. Celia wrote about her everyday life, relationships with family and friends, and local and national events of the day.

This series also contains loose papers, lists, newspaper clippings, a letter, and cards that were placed inside the diaries. These items are now inside folders labeled with the year of the diary they were found.

Biographical / Historical

The floods of 1935 are noted. Celia mentions the Lindbergh baby trial. The household has its first electrical clock and electric mixer. In the summer Celia gardens and cans her fruits and vegetables. She writes there is a war between Italy and Ethiopia.
