This series contains the diaries of Celia Smith Kelm written between 1920 and 1966. Celia wrote about her everyday life, relationships with family and friends, and local and national events of the day.

This series also contains loose papers, lists, newspaper clippings, a letter, and cards that were placed inside the diaries. These items are now inside folders labeled with the year of the diary they were found.

Biographical / Historical

Celia writes that King George V died. She mentions King Edward and Wallis Simpson, and notes when King Edward abdicated. There is another flood in 1936. For the Social Security Act Edna and Henry had to “make out papers." Celia writes about the potential war in Europe.
