From the Series:

This series contains the diaries of Celia Smith Kelm written between 1920 and 1966. Celia wrote about her everyday life, relationships with family and friends, and local and national events of the day.

This series also contains loose papers, lists, newspaper clippings, a letter, and cards that were placed inside the diaries. These items are now inside folders labeled with the year of the diary they were found.

Biographical / Historical

Celia writes that she can’t write about the war because it is confusing. She does note the bombing of Pearl Harbor, blackouts, and defense bonds.
