Contained within this subseries are Kenneth Lindsay’s research materials related to John Vanderlyn and other early-19th-century American artists. The materials mainly consist of Lindsay’s handwritten research notes, photographs and photocopies of paintings, and copies of transcribed letters to and from John Vanderlyn dated 1802-1845. Additionally, some of the items found in this subseries were possibly used by Lindsay as part of his background research for the 1970 Vanderlyn Exhibit at the Binghamton University Art Gallery.
