Martin Bros. Circus collection

Overview The collection contains correspondence, bills, receipts, broadsides, and business advertisements pertaining to Martin Bros. Circus, located in Castle Creek, NY. The circus was owned and operated by Clayton Hawkes and Carroll Miller. Its tent shows toured upstate New York beginning in the 1930s, with the company's winter quarters in Castle Creek. Clayton Hawkes and his wife Madge also ran other circus shows, including Clayton's Combined, Bogart and Hawkes, and the Great American School Show.

The posters, most pins, a 45 rpm record, and maps are from a March 1977 trip to Moscow and Leningrad with a Lehigh University Alumni Association tour. The prints, photographs, and t-shirts are from the donor's attendance at the 1989 International Conference on Environment & Society in Moscow as a representative of the League of Women Voters.
