"Partridge & Cozens' Annual Diary for 1857" used by English journalist and essayist Abraham Hayward (1801 - 1884), inscribed by him "A. Hayward, Temple" on the front free endpaper. Mostly records his meal engagements, giving just a name and a time. There are several small penciled notes laid in, which may have been passed between Hayward and his friends in a social club.
