Stevens, G. W. letter to "Friend Lucy", June 18, 1862
Scope and Contents
Letter from G. W. Stevens to a "Friend Lucy," written from Alexandria, Virginia and apologizing for his previous letter, which had hurt her feelings. He writes that he does not remember exactly what he had written, but that he felt that she was perhaps "getting in a hurry," and that he did not intend to marry as soon as he got home, "for I intend to see more of this world if I do get out of this alive which I hope I may." He adds "But Can say this much truly, Lucy that you are the Choice of my hart thus far and think allways will be." He adds that he had received a letter from Jules[?] who "has hard it very hard" where his unit is stationed. He reports that Will Hulbert and John Fletcher have been there to visit him recently.
